Take the Buakhao Songthaew north to its final stop at Pattaya Klang (Central Pattaya Road). From there, it’s a short 3–5 minute walk to Second Road, where you can catch another northbound songthaew toward Terminal 21 and Naklua.
N2 : Connection Route
If you are close to one of the connection routes featured above, you can walk directly from Soi Buakhao to Second Road instead of taking the Buakhao Songthaew. From there, you can catch a northbound songthaew toward Terminal 21 or Naklua.
The best connection route depends on where you are on Soi Buakhao, so check the four connection routes described earlier to find the one closest to you.
Going to Naklua? Stay on the northbound Second Road songthaew as it passes Terminal 21 and continues north.
Southbound Routes: Beach Road, Walking St, Bali Hai Pier & Jomtien
South End: The usual end point for southbound Soi Buakhao songthaews. Most passengers get off here on South Pattaya Road, near Pattaya City School 8.
Riding south on Soi Buakhao brings you to the South End intersection (South Pattaya Road). From this hub, you can branch out to four main destinations:
- S1 (Beach Road): Get off at the South End and walk roughly 8–10 minutes west to reach the southern end of Beach Road.
- S2 (Walking Street): Walk about 5–8 minutes southwest from the South End drop-off straight to the entrance of Walking Street.

Riding a songthaew along Soi Buakhao is cheap, easy, and surprisingly convenient once you know how it works. Unlike the one-way Beach Road and Second Road routes, Soi Buakhao has songthaews running in both directions, making it especially easy to use.
1. Soi Buakhao Runs Both Ways!
Songthaews run constantly along Soi Buakhao in both directions. Simply flag one down from the correct side of the street:
- Heading North: Stand on the east side (away from the beach) to go toward Pattaya Klang / Central Pattaya.
- Heading South: Stand on the west side (beach side) to go toward South Pattaya Road and Walking Street.
2. Step-by-Step: How to Ride & Pay
Getting on and off a Buakhao songthaew is simple. Here is what to do from the moment you flag one down to the moment you pay.
When you see an approaching songthaew, raise your hand gently with your palm facing down.
Once it stops, climb directly into the back passenger area. No need to speak to the driver unless you are asking if they are going to a specific landmark.
As you approach your destination, press one of the buzzer buttons located on the ceiling or handrails. The driver will pull over safely.
Walk up to the driver’s side window and hand over your fare. Always pay after you arrive at your destination.
Don’t negotiate the fare for a normal shared ride: If you simply want to travel along the regular Soi Buakhao route, there is no need to ask the driver for a price before boarding. Asking for a specific destination or a route outside the normal service can turn the ride into a private taxi, where the price is negotiated separately.
Keep small change handy: Have some small coins or a 20 THB note ready. This makes payment much easier, especially when the fare is 15 THB.

2026 Fare Update: What Changed?
Pattaya’s songthaew fares changed on April 10, 2026, ending the old 10 THB fare that had remained in place for decades. The new fare is generally 15–20 THB, depending on the distance.
For most short trips around central Pattaya, including Soi Buakhao, 15 THB is the standard fare. Longer journeys can cost 20 THB.
For a 15 THB fare, a 10 THB coin plus a 5 THB coin is the easiest option, but a 20 THB note is also fine and you can receive 5 THB in change.
