Ban Chiang 1 is a casual, open-air Mookata restaurant on Pattaya Third Road, relatively close to Soi Buakhao. It’s a compact local-style BBQ spot with buffet dining, two price options, and a relaxed atmosphere.

In this guide, I’ll show you where it is, what you can eat, how much it costs, and what I noticed during my visits.

📍 Where Is Ban Chiang 1?

Location of Ban Chiang 1 Mookata on Pattaya Third Road. Not to scale. Please use this map as a general guide.

Ban Chiang 1 is located along Pattaya Third Road, just a short distance from the Central Pattaya Road intersection on the east side of the city. Because it sits directly on Third Road, it is relatively easy to find, even if this is your first visit to the area.

If you’re coming from popular nearby areas such as Soi Buakhao or Central Pattaya, here is a general idea of travel times:

🚶 10–15 minutes on foot (if you are staying close to eastern Soi Buakhao)
🛵 5–10 minutes by motorbike or Bolt
🚕 10–15 minutes by taxi (depending on evening traffic)

📍 Address:
Ban Chiang 1 (บ้านเชียง 1): 504 Chaloem Phrakiat 8 Alley, Pattaya City, Bang Lamung District, Chon Buri 20150, Thailand

Open in Google Maps

🕒 Opening Hours: Open every day from 4:00 PM until 6:00 AM.

🚗 Parking Note: Ban Chiang 1 does not have its own dedicated parking lot, and the Third Road area can get quite busy in the evening. If you are not nearby, Bolt or a motorbike taxi can be a more convenient option.

🍖 What Stands Out at Ban Chiang 1?

Ban Chiang 1 offers the familiar mix of meat, seafood, vegetables, noodles, and dipping sauces you would expect at a local Mookata buffet. What stood out to me during my visit were a few particular items and the way the buffet area was organized.

✨ A Few Highlights

Marinated Pork: One of the items I enjoyed most. It grills nicely on the dome and pairs especially well with the dipping sauces.
Salmon Slices: A unique addition to the lineup. I enjoyed adding these small salmon pieces to the soup around the edge of the pan, which gave the broth a richer flavor.
Well-Organized Buffet: The self-service area was clean, easy to navigate, and regularly restocked throughout my visit.

💰 Ban Chiang 1 Mookata Prices

✨ Buffet Options

Standard Mookata Buffet: 189 THB per person
Seafood Buffet: 289 THB per person
Drinks: Not included in the buffet price

💡 Price Note:I checked these prices in late June 2026. Prices can change over time, so it’s always a good idea to check the latest price at the restaurant before ordering.

🌙 Atmosphere & What to Expect

Ban Chiang 1 has a casual, open-air atmosphere with simple seating and charcoal grills at each table. It feels more like a local neighborhood BBQ restaurant than a tourist-focused dining spot.

The staff are friendly and can help when needed, such as when the charcoal gets low or the grill needs attention. The setup is simple, so you can relax and enjoy your meal without it feeling too formal.

📝 My Experience at Ban Chiang 1

During my visits to Ban Chiang 1, I’ve noticed a different atmosphere from some of the larger and busier Mookata restaurants in Pattaya.

Because it is close to Soi Buakhao, I get the impression that some customers stop by after having drinks in the area. At the same time, you’ll also see families and groups enjoying dinner. I’ve noticed that the family groups tend to include older children or adults, rather than very young kids.

The restaurant itself is fairly compact, and I actually like that. Even when there are quite a few customers, it doesn’t feel like one of those huge buffet restaurants where everyone is rushing to grab food. The atmosphere is generally comfortable and relaxed, which makes it easy to enjoy dinner at your own pace.

💡 Things to Know Before You Go

Easy Access from Soi Buakhao: Ban Chiang 1 is relatively close to Soi Buakhao, so it works well either before or after spending time there. You can walk if you’re staying nearby, but because it is not on a regular songthaew route, a motorbike taxi or Bolt is often the more convenient option.

No Dedicated Parking: Ban Chiang 1 does not have its own parking lot, so driving here may be less convenient, especially in the evening.

A Compact Restaurant: The restaurant is fairly small and is best suited to couples and small groups rather than large parties. There are usually customers throughout the evening, but the compact layout also means the staff are close by and easy to ask for help when you need something.

Mostly Covered Seating: Almost all of the tables are under a roof, so light rain is not usually a major concern. The restaurant is open-air, with no partitions or air conditioning, but personally, I have never found this to be a problem when dining there.

🏁 Final Thoughts

Ban Chiang 1 is not right on Beach Road, but it’s a convenient option if you’re staying around Soi Buakhao or the eastern side of Pattaya.

Its compact, relaxed atmosphere also makes it easy to drop in as a couple or small group, without the feeling of a large, busy buffet restaurant.
